The Hamilton County Jail

As a member of the NAACP, I was a leading signature gatherer in the drive to give the citizens of Hamilton County a choice regarding the jail tax.

Many politicians run campaigns based off the rhetoric of fear, hoping an uninformed and terrorized electorate will cast ballots for their empty promises.

The key to a healthy democracy is having deep discussions about the direction of our community. The so-called Comprehensive Safety Plan is an example of politicians avoiding real discussions, spending their time planning special elections and impositions to avoid facing the questions and criticisms of the people.

While the jail is specifically a County issue, it affects everyone in Cincinnati. It is important that leaders take a stand on issues that affect their constituents on a local level.
